Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends to come together, enjoy delicious food, carry on traditions, and reflect on what they are grateful for. And there is no better time of year to practice being grateful than Thanksgiving! Gratitude can be practiced in many different ways, such as through meditation or by reading a gratitude journal. Whatever your prefered method of practicing gratitude we like these three simple E's of tapping into the power of gratitude by Skip Pritchard. 1. Emote: feel the emotion.
2. Extend: give gratitude to include other people. Expressing gratitude to others is a way to show appreciation and acknowledgement of the support they provide. It also helps us feel more connected to them. Gratitude can be expressed in many different ways, such as through words, deeds, or gifts. The most common form of expressing gratitude is through words. It is important to be specific in your expression of gratitude so that the person knows what you are thankful for. For example, "I'm grateful for all of your help with my project" or "thank you for always being there for me." 3. Exercise: do your daily gratitude exercise.

Okay, we know we just got over Labor Day, BUT we need to talk about the holidays. There are many holidays coming up... Halloween, Thanksgiving, and of course, the 'gift giving' holidays in December. Although it may seem that these are VERY far away... there are things you can do NOW that will help you prepare for that time. That way, you'll be cool as a summer cucumber (hopefully) once it gets a bit closer to these holidays. SPOOKY SZNA.K.A... Halloween First things for - make a list. (My oh my does the GTC Team love a good list! I mean checking off those little boxes, such satisfaction!) This will be everything that you'll need (plus, a little extra from your favorite home goods type store decoration aisle). This will help you from making MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE trips to the store. Here's some things you might need:
Speaking of costumes, getting the right costumes for your children and yourself can be the most time-consuming and expensive part of Halloween. If you are making costumes from scratch, you need to allow yourself plenty of time to get them completed. You definitely don’t want to be rushing around trying to put last minute details on the costumes. If you are buying costumes, you should get them as early as possible. It may be more cost-effective to rent costumes instead of buying. Give Thanks, for ThanksgivingWhether you're hosting a family dinner or being a guest at one, there are steps to take NOW so you're not scrambling when the time comes. For the Host
For the Guest(s)
And Finally... the Gift Giving Holidays
We know this list seems ambitious. Believe us - it's not easy having this all together. But TRUST us in knowing this will make your life 1,000x easier in the long run. If you need help, know that GTC is only a phone call away!

DON’T BE LATE – BUT IF YOU ARE, HERE’S WHAT TO DO
If you can’t get your federal return filed before taxes are due, you can usually get extra time by filing an extension with the IRS. You’ll need to file Form 4868 and pay any amount you owe by the tax filing deadline. As long as the IRS accepts your request, you will have six extra months to file your return for the tax year.
If you don’t file for an extension, you will owe a fee. It is usually 5% of the tax owed for each month, up to 25%. You will also owe interest on your late payments, at a rate of one-half percent (0.5%) per month, up to 25% of the unpaid tax balance.
